The Global Gender Gap Report 2022 reveals a new and encouraging trend in female entrepreneurship. For the first time, the report includes an analysis of the gender gap specifically within entrepreneurship.
What stands out—based on the job titles (founder and co-founder) listed in LinkedIn profiles across 22 countries—is that the number of women entrepreneurs has increased at a higher rate than men.
In particular, the share of women founders has doubled over the past five years. As illustrated in the accompanying chart, this trend continued both during and after the pandemic, with a 43% increase between 2019 and 2020.
